Beauty products you NEED to get you through the harsh winter months!
Hello there! Today I will be sharing with you my current winter beauty essentials, so let’s get started!
1. A Lip Scrub: to keep your lips soft and supple.
Exfoliating your lips with a lip scrub is a key step in keeping your lips soft and preventing them from being very dry and chapped. The lip scrub I am currently using is from Melanin Babe. It comes in a tiny container and is pink (how cute!) To use this lip scrub, I add an equal part of water and the lip scrub into a bowl, mix it together, and then scrub it on my lips. I find that exfoliating your lips not only helps get rid of any flaky or dry skin, but it also slightly plumps the lips. After exfoliating I like to apply a nourishing lip balm which is my next winter beauty essential!

2. A Nourishing Lip Balm: to keep your lips moisturized and chap-free.
This lip balm intrigued me because it said that is was a winner of the Allure best of beauty 2016 awards. I was also intrigued by the ingredients in this lip balm as it contains all natural ingredients and 40% coconut oil which makes it very moisturizing. During the winter months I always have dry, chapped lips. I have been using Carmex for the longest time, and I came to the conclusion that it did not help my lips at all. Since I started using this product I noticed a difference in how my lips feel. I love the applicator and the packaging of this lip balm as it makes it very easy to apply the lip balm. This lip balm is very moisturizing and has made my lips feel so smooth. I love this lip balm and will definitely stock up on it once I run out!(Click HERE to purchase the Skinfix Lip Repair Balm! – Available in 11 flavours!)
3. The Perfect Winter Red Lipstick: to add a pop of colour!
Every time the winter months roll around I always get very festive and wear red lipstick (even after Christmas – I mean hello red is a classic!) I have been wanting to purchase this Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick for almost two years and finally, in December, I bit the bullet and purchased it! I always spend a lot of money on fashion but when it comes to beauty (as much as I love makeup) I can never get myself to splurge on beauty products. It will literally take me a good two years to finally convince myself to purchase a cosmetic product from a more high-end brand! Anyhow, this liquid lipstick is in the shade Outlaw and is the perfect true-red colour. I absolutely love the colour and I have received so many compliments whenever I wear it! Everyone always tells me that it suits me so I guess it’s a keeper! As usual, I am always honest with my reviews and there is a downside to this liquid lipstick. It is not as long lasting as I had expected so it will begin to come off and get a little weird on the inner part of your lips. However, since this lipstick is such a beautiful colour and is matte and not over-drying like other liquid lipsticks I have tried, I try to bear through the cons of this lipstick.

If you are on the hunt for a more affordable lipstick that is somewhat similar to the Kat Von D liquid lipstick I would suggest purchasing the Loreal Collection Exclusive Red’s lipstick in the shade Blake’s Red. It is the perfect true red and is also matte but very comfortable on the lips, as well as being a fraction of the price of the Kat Von D liquid lipstick. However, the downside to this lipstick is that it is not very long lasting and will transfer, but once again, since it is so affordable I think it is a very good alternative. I wrote a review on this lipstick which you can read HERE.

4. Berry Tones: to make your nails pop!
During the fall and winter months I always opt for deep berry tones when it comes to nail polish. This particular nail polish is from Melanin Babe in the shade Love Affair and is a deep wine colour. I have a few deep berry coloured nail polishes but this one in particular is very different unlike the others. It is not your normal deep red wine, nor is it a pure berry shade (I am really bad at describing colours if you haven’t already noticed). Do not be fooled by the colour in the bottle as it is actually much deeper and rich when it is applied to the nails. In terms of longevity, I would say this nail polish lasts about a week before it begins to chip, but if you are anything like me and chip your nail polish right after applying it (I do not understand how I manage to chip my nails every time no matter the brand – the struggle is real!) then this nail polish may need to be reapplied after a few days. Nonetheless, because I love the colour and it is unlike anything I own I can manage reapplying it.

5. The Perfect Winter Highlighter: to keep you glowing (like J Lo) in the colder months.
Everyone wants to have the J-Lo glow and let me tell you, it’s possible even in the winter! I have been wanting to try the Hard Candy baked bronzer in the shade Tiki for a very long time. I’m not sure why its marketed as a bronzer because it is definitely a highlighter – but that’s beside the point. I have heard a lot of people compare this shade to the Mac Cosmetics highlighter in the shade Soft and Gentle. Now, I am unsure if it is a dupe for Mac’s Soft and Gentle as I do not own that highlight and have not tried it side by side to the Hard Candy one. Moving on, this highlight is a beautiful champagne colour and is quite long lasting. With just one swatch of this highlight its clear how pigmented this product is and can be sprayed with water or any makeup setting spray to intensify the colour even more. What is great about this highlight is that not only is it long lasting, but it is very affordable! I purchased mine during the holiday season when they released it in a miniature size for less than two dollars at Walmart! But, you can get the full-size year ’round at Walmart for $10 which I think is a great price for a good quality drugstore highlighter!
