From the runway to street style, the belt bag has seen it all and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
Hello loves, it has been a hot minute since I shared a Trend Alert blog post so here I am today sharing with you all one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) bag trend of 2018 – the belt bag (also known as a bum bag or fanny pack, but belt bag sounds more chic J). The belt bag has really been everywhere this year from fashion week runway shows to everyday street style, bringing people an easy, convenient, and stylish way to carry their everyday belongings. A fanny pack has never made you look cooler!
I have to admit, the belt bag/fanny pack was never something I liked. In fact, I actually despised the fanny pack. Yes, I know, how could I possibly hate this? Now before all you belt bag/fanny pack lovers hate me, just hear me out. Fanny packs for the most part are not cute. They kind of remind me of one of those “dad” fashion trends. You know, like something your dad would wear back in the 80’s or 90’s when he was “hip” and “cool” or something you would wear to a festival. But the only reason I thought of belt bags this way was because I never knew or thought (for that matter) that they could be so chic and styled in several ways (other than at the waist) or that they can really pull your entire outfit together. Whether you’re going for more of a street style, laid back, cool-girl athleisure look, wearing the belt bag slung across your chest or having a girls’ night on the town with a fun coloured pantsuit and synching your waist with a structured belt bag – whatever it is, it can be instantly elevated with a belt bag. Not to mention, it’s probably the most convenient bag to have with you because you won’t have to worry about losing your bag and frantically running around trying to figure out where you misplaced your handbag because it will always be by your side (literally)!
