Everything You Need to Know About Buying the Gucci Marmont Leather Belt (6 Month Review)

*Cue Lil Pump’s Gucci Gang*

Hello loves! Today, I will be doing a six-month review on my Gucci Marmont double G buckle leather belt because I always get questions about it and people always want to know if it’s worth the investment. I will share with you the story of how I managed to finally get my hands on the belt (after months of waiting), information about my belt style, and my final thoughts on whether or not I think the belt is worth the hefty price tag. Enjoy!

How I got my hands on the belt:

I want to say it all started back in October of 2017 when I officially decided that I wanted to invest in the Gucci belt. Now, I never imagined my first designer item to be a belt because honestly, I rarely ever wear belts (maybe to cinch the waist here and there but never to keep my pants up). Growing up, I was always against spending money on a belt because of that reason. I always imagined my first designer purchase to be a Chanel bag but little did I know that years down the line, I would fall in love with the fashion industry and get sucked into purchasing the infamous Gucci Marmont leather belt that everyone and their mother seems to own these days. I could not stop thinking about the belt and every time I put on an outfit I always found myself saying, “the Gucci belt would look so good with this outfit.” I did A LOT of research by reading blogs, watching YouTube videos, and talking to Gucci employees. I saved up my money for six months before finally biting the bullet and pressing “checkout” on Gucci’s website.

I originally planned on purchasing the belt at the Gucci store or at a designer department store like Holt Renfrew, but it seemed almost impossible to get my hands on it in-store. I was put on about two or three waiting lists out of all the Gucci locations I visited for the belt size and style I wanted and the rest of them I could not even make it to the waiting list because I was told it was so long that there was no point of being added to it. I was beginning to get very frustrated because I really wanted to purchase it before summer break and my commencement as a graduation gift to myself. After speaking with a sales associate at the flagship Gucci store on Bloor Street in Toronto, I was told to purchase the belt online because I had a better chance of getting it earlier than waiting for months to get off the waitlist. Right as I was ready to purchase the belt in my size, it went out of stock online (just my luck haha)! A week or so later, I had a very strong feeling or intuition that the belt would go back in stock – I guess you can say it was the law of attraction – and of course, by God’s will, it came back in stock and I ordered it right away!

I cannot exactly remember how long the shipping time was but it definitely was not more than a week. The two things I was disappointed about was that I had to pay an additional $45 for shipping (you would think a designer brand like Gucci would give you free shipping when spending hundreds of dollars on their website but that’s not the case), and when my package arrived I was told that I would have to sign for it but instead the mailman left the package on the doorstep. Now, that was not necessarily Gucci’s fault but I am still frustrated because someone could have stolen the product had I not seen it on my doorstep. Anyways, other than those two things, I was very pleased with my purchase and could not contain my excitement that I finally owned the Gucci belt I was lusting over for months!

About the belt:

The belt I purchased is the Gucci Marmont leather belt with a double G buckle. What’s great about this belt is that it can be worn with almost anything. I wear it with denim, trousers, skirts, and dresses. I purchased the size 80, which is perfect for me as I can wear it at the waist to cinch my waist and at the hips with my denim and trousers.

6 Month Review: Is it worth the hefty price tag?

Is this belt worth the investment you ask? Yes and no. I know that might not be the answer you want to hear, but just hear me out on this okay? After having this belt for six months and wearing it A TON, I must say that yes, for me it was definitely worth the investment. I wear it almost every day and I can wear it with almost everything I own in my wardrobe. Do I use it as a functional piece for example, to keep my pants up? No. I use it to accessorize and in my opinion, it really pulls any and all of my outfits together. Considering the fact that this is a luxury item and is very expensive, if you are interested in purchasing the belt, I would recommend that you do a lot of research, go in-store and ask questions, try the belt on like I did, and take a look at your wardrobe and lifestyle to see if owning the belt would be worth the investment for you. Had it costed me close to $700 or more, I honestly probably wouldn’t have purchased it but because for me, $655 was still within my budget for this belt I was willing to buy it. If you don’t see yourself wearing it a lot and just want it because everyone has it, I really don’t think you should purchase it even if it’s nice to have. If this is the case, consider spending your money on a different luxury item that will be worth the money you spend and one that’s value would not significantly depreciate if you do decide to sell it in the future.

Now that you’ve read all about my story and my opinion on whether the belt is worth the investment or not, do you plan on purchasing it or do you plan on saving your money and spending it elsewhere? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time,
