The fashion trends actually worth trying.
Hello loves! I hope you’re enjoying your quarantine summer. I’m not sure how it is where you guys are but here in Toronto, things are starting to slowly get back to “normal.” With that being said, whether you’re going out (and socially distancing of course) or having a staycation and still wanting to look cute and stylish, I wanted to share six trends that I have been LOVING for the past few months that I believe you need to jump on and try out as soon as possible. So, in no particular order, continue reading to find out more about these trends!
- Statement Sleeves
From organza to puff sleeves, ruffles, and everything in between. Fun sleeves on both tops and dresses are one of my favourite trends right now because they add a stylish and feminine touch to any outfit. It’s an easy way to make a statement and looks fashion-forward dressed up or down! Since this is a big trend right now, it’s super easy to come across and find the perfect top or dress for you. Some of my favourite places to shop this trend are Topshop and Zara!
2. Interesting Necklines
Forget your crewnecks, v-necks, and turtle/mock necks and make some room for the new and interesting necklines in town! It’s all about the sweetheart, square, Queen Anne, off-the-shoulder, and one-shoulder necklines. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve always loved my crewnecks and turtle/mock necks (and still do) but recently, I have been loving purchasing tops with interesting necklines. My favourites are definitely square, sweetheart, and Queen Anne. You can easily dress them up and down and they’re just so much more stylish than a basic crew or v-neck. What’s even more exciting is that you can find tops with both interesting necklines and statement sleeves for double fashion trouble! She a fashionista or whateva.
3. Trousers with Sneakers
I am such a heel girl so I have to admit that back in the day, I would have never considered wearing sneakers with trousers (or even dresses or skirts for that matter) but oh-my-gosh I am OBSESSED! There’s just something about tailored trousers and sneakers that look so darn good together. They’re a match made in heaven! Wearing trousers help elevate your look but the sneakers just help tone it down just enough to give your outfit that cool model off duty look.
4. Soft Girl Aesthetic
I like to think of myself as a soft girl (or almost a soft girl) because, at times, my style and aesthetic definitely fit the overall aesthetic. If you don’t already know, “soft girl” is a very feminine fashion style that consists of colours like pink, purple, peach, and pastels. It also consists of wearing accessories like hair clips, headbands, shoulder bags, and clothing with floral patterns etc. (you get the point). Anyway, my personal style has always leaned more towards the feminine side even when I branch out to other styles. I absolutely love wearing very girly/feminine pieces and have been loving wearing hair accessories. I believe that even if the soft girl aesthetic isn’t your style, you can easily incorporate parts of it into your daily outfits and still get the look without completely committing to the aesthetic.
5. Shoulder Bags
“I have too many bags,” said no one ever. If you love handbags like me, then you need to jump on this trend. Instead of always grabbing your go-to tote or crossbody bag, try out a shoulder bag. I have a white shoulder bag (a great dupe for the BY FAR shoulder bag) that I purchased earlier this summer that I am absolutely in love with and I have been using it a ton since I got it. There are so many cute shoulder bags out there whether you’re looking for one (or more – hey, I’m not judging) that is more affordable (I found a cute green shoulder bag at the thrift store so don’t be afraid to check your local second-hand store) or one that is designer. Whichever bag you choose, it’s sure to complete your outfit. Oh and did I mention shoulder bags are part of the soft girl aesthetic? That’s killing two birds with one stone baby #fashun.
6. Lace Up Heels with Trousers
I came across this style/trend on TikTok and fell in love. You might be wondering what is so special about wearing lace-up heels with trousers (you can also wear them with denim) and it is that you don’t just lace them up around your leg like you normally would, but rather lace them up on your trousers or denim. I had never seen anyone do this prior to TikTok which I am so shocked about because I’m sure it’s been a fashion trend for some time now. It’s a fun twist on wearing lace-up heels as you normally would. I shared a post on Instagram wearing a pair of fluffy lace-up heels and one of my favourite pairs of trousers that I thrifted. Click HERE to check it out (oh and while you’re at it, don’t be shy and follow my Insta hehe)!
That’s all for today’s blog post! Thanks for taking the time to read and check out my blog!
Until next time,
